3.24-25.12 - T&T Speedway – Shreveport, LA
Trends and Trains hobby shop and raceway in Shreveport, LA was the scene for the first annual Dialed Inc. Off-road Championships. In spite of the crazy storms that passed through the area dumping huge amounts of water on the track during the week prior to the event, the race charged on. With over 280 entries ready to do battle, Joey Christensen (The Dirt) did the impossible.
What was a soupy clay puddle of muck was transformed into a race-able surface in just a matter of a day. Even though there wasn’t much to work with and the track was just too soft to use a Bobcat, Joey and crew carved out a challenging layout. Once the track dried out and packed in, the surface began to bust apart and become very jagged. Some racers referenced the surface to that of the moon… However, this made for an incredibly challenging surface and produced some intensely close racing.
Pro Invitational Truggy
VP/PowerMaster was out in force as Kurt Kellum and Mike Battaile landed two of the top three podium spots with Adam Drake winning the overall using Losi Nitrotane (VP manufactured fuel). Kurt had a couple of blistering runs during the six 10-minute race format that put him in front of Mike for the points tie breaker. Mike was solid all day placing no lower than second place in any one of his six 10-minute races. Both drivers used VP/PowerMaster Nitro race 30% Car fuel to run the entire ten minutes in each race without pitting.
Pro Invitational Truggy: 1st Adam Drake (Losi Nitrotane), 2nd Kurt Kellum (VP/PowerMaster), 3rd Mike Battaile (VP/PowerMaster)
Pro Invitational Buggy
VP fuels dominated the Pro Invite buggy class. PowerMaster drivers Patrick Castleberry and Kurt Kellum were on rails all day claiming second and fifth place respectively. Patrick stacked up several 10-minute race wins and was in the hunt for the overall title, but had some bad luck toward the end of the day. His performance was still good enough for a second place overall finish. Adam Drake once again took the top podium spot while Denver Houghton locked in the fourth spot. Both Adam and Denver used VP manufactured Losi Nitrotane in their Losi buggies. Patrick and Kurt both used VP/PowerMaster Nitro Race 30% Car fuel in their X-Ray buggies.
